The Institute is undertaking a substantial program of renewal and renovation among the historic buildings of the Main Group, to ensure that MIT continues to support and inspire world-class education and research. To this end, we renovated sections of Building 2, home to the Department of Mathematics and portions of the Department of Chemistry, incorporating upgraded classrooms, infrastructure, and facilities.

Sustainable design and construction initiatives will play a central role in the renovation of Building 2.
