Enhancement of life and learning
Completion: To be determined
The renewal and renovation of this historically significant building will provide an opportunity to enhance Music and Theater Arts education and activities at MIT.
Themes and priorities
Walker Memorial Hall is a significant campus building that has served many roles on the MIT campus over its nearly 100-year history. Currently in need of substantial renovation, Walker appears to be a good match with the programmatic needs of the Music and Theater Arts Department – a community in search of a new home.
MIT is currently studying the possibility of renovating Walker to co-locate the Music and Theater Arts Department with its teaching and extracurricular activities. The new center would allow MIT to explore new frontiers of artistic and technological discovery.
